On Monday, 28 February 2005, Mr Tassos Papadopoulos, President of the Republic of Cyprus, will pay a working visit to Luxembourg. Jean-Claude Juncker extended the invitation on his official visit to Cyprus in January 2004. Mr Papadopoulos will be accompanied by the Cypriot Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr George Iacovou.
The Prime Minister and current President of the European Council, Jean-Claude Juncker, will welcome the President of Cyprus at the Hôtel de Bourgogne. The talks will mainly revolve around bilateral relations, reunification of the island and the main European political news dossiers. Preparations for the spring European Council and, more particularly, the mid-term examination of the Lisbon Strategy will also be among the items on the agenda.
George Iacovou will hold talks with his colleague and current President of the Council of the European Union, Jean Asselborn, at the Hôtel Saint-Maximin. The heads of diplomacy will exchange views on the main international political news dossiers.
