CFSP Statement
Declaration by the Presidency of the European Union on Silwan

Date of release : 10-06-2005

Policy area : General Affairs and External Relations

The Presidency takes note of the statement made by the spokesperson of the mayor of Jerusalem on 8 June, affirming that the Israeli authorities had no intention to demolish 88 Palestinian houses in Silwan.

The EU hopes that this decision will be maintained and wishes to reiterate that, with respect to international and humanitarian law, no party should undertake unilateral actions that might prejudge the final status and could compromise the viability of a two State solution.
