The European Union has taken due note of the preliminary conclusions of the international Election Observation Mission for the second round of municipal elections held on 27 March in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

The European Union expresses its concern that the authorities have not rectified the serious irregularities identified by ODIHR during the first round of the elections.

The Candidate Countries Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Croatia  align themselves with this statement.
