The EU-US Summit bringing together George W. Bush, President of the United States, with leaders of the European Union will take place in Washington on 20 June.
The European delegation will be led by Jean-Claude Juncker, current President of the European Council and Luxembourg Prime Minister, assisted by Javier Solana, High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU, and José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission.
Jean-Claude Juncker, will be accompanied by Jean Asselborn, President of the Council of the European Union and Minister for Foreign Affairs. The European delegation will furthermore comprise Günter Verheugen, Vice-President of the Commission, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner in charge of External Relations, and Peter Mandelson, Commissioner in charge of Commerce.
Discussion will mainly focus on transatlantic economic integration and growth, promotion of democracy, reform of the United Nations and multilateral policy, the fight against terrorism and for non-proliferation, environmental and energy issues as well as development aid.
