On 3 June 2005, the "Home Affairs" session of the "JHA" reached a political agreement on the Council’s proposal to make the European Police College (EPC) a body of the European Union.

The EPC, created by a Council decision of 22 December 2000, brings together the national institutes in charge of training senior officials of police departments in the Member States.

For the EPC to operate more smoothly, the ministers decided that it would be financed from the Community budget and to apply the European Union staff regulation to the European Police College.

In another development, the Council was informed about the positive and constructive operational cooperation of the Chiefs of Police Task Force on the fight against paedophilia , which was held in several Member States..
