Jean Asselborn, President in office of the Council of the European Union and Luxembourg Minister of Foreign Affairs, will lead the delegation of the European Troika i.e. Javier Solana, Secretary-General, High Representative for the CFSP and Benita Ferrero-Waldner, Commissioner for External Relations and European Neighbourhood Policy, which will meet Hoshyar Zebari, Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs in Washington on 2 June.

Talks are scheduled to deal with preparations for the International Conference on Iraq, which following the demand by the Iraqi transitional government is to be held in Brussels on 22 June on the level of Foreign ministers and will be jointly organised by the European Union and the United States of America.
