Jean Asselborn, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, spoke at the press conference for the "General Affairs and External Relations" Council on the question of financial perspectives. The President of the Council made the following statement:
"The Presidency is very pleased with today’s discussions. Indeed, thanks to the new 'negotiations box' that we have presented, the real negotiations have begun. The criticisms made by the national delegations have certainly not spared the Presidency, but the tone and content of the debates have encouraged me in the path that we have chosen. We are now going to speed up work at the COREPER level so that we can fully complete the 'negotiations box'. Between now and the conclave of 22 May, the eve of the next General Affairs Council, as Ministers for Foreign Affairs we will be ready to get to the heart of this highly complicated subject. The new version of the 'negotiations box' will enable all the delegations to have an overview of all the expenditure headings and of the own resources. Today, we have mainly discussed the cohesion heading and next time we will talk about the own resources."Copyright © Luxembourg Government
