In a letter addressed to the Foreign Minister of Indonesia, Dr N. Hassan Wirajuda, the Minister for Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs, Jean-Louis Schiltz assures the Indonesian government and people of the support of the European Union in order to face the consequences of the renewed catastrophe that has hit South East Asia and particularly Indonesia during the night of 28 March.

In his letter, the Minister expresses, among other things, his satisfaction regarding the dispositions taken by the potentially concerned countries to alert the population. He underlines in this same context, the necessity to set up a formal early warning system as soon as possible.
