Jean-Claude Juncker to meet with Jacques Chirac

The Prime Minister and current President of the European Council, Jean-Claude Juncker, will meet with Jacques Chirac, the French President, in Paris on Monday, 7 February 2005.

The discussions will focus on the priorities of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, such as the mid-term review of the Lisbon Strategy, financial perspectives 2007-2013 and the examination of the Stability and Growth Pact.

Upon the invitation of the French Prime Minister, Jean-Pierre Raffarin, the Luxembourg Prime Minister will participate in a dinner-debate at the Hôtel Matignon organised by the "Conseil d'analyse économique" (CAE), which advises Prime Minister Raffarin on economic issues.

Jean-Claude Juncker will return to Matignon the following day for a breakfast-debate entitled "Parlons d'Europe - Les petits déjeuners de Matignon" (Speaking of Europe - The Matignon Breakfasts). Representatives of civil society, especially non-governmental organisations, young entrepreneurs, trade unionists and people working in the social and family areas will be invited to the breakfast.
