Luc Frieden in the United States

During Defence Minister Luc Frieden’s official visit to the United States from 31 January to 4 February 2005, the minister will meet with Secretary of Defence Donald Rumsfeld on 31 January. Relations between the EU and NATO, the situation in Afghanistan, in Iraq and in the Balkans, as well as the struggle against terrorism, are among the items on the agenda.

This visit by Frieden, at the start of Luxembourg’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union and at the beginning of the Bush administration’s second term, demonstrates the Presidency’s desire to strengthen and consolidate transatlantic relations.
