In the framework of the Luxembourg Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a summit will bring together the leaders of the European Union and Canada on 19 June in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
The European delegation will be led by Jean-Claude Juncker, current President of the European Council and Luxembourg Prime Minister, assisted by Javier Solana, High Representative for Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU, and José Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission.
Jean-Claude Juncker, will be accompanied by Jean Asselborn, President of the Council of the European Union and Minister for Foreign Affairs. The European delegation will furthermore comprise Benita Ferrero-Waldner, European Commissioner in charge of External Relations, as well as Peter Mandelson, Commissioner in charge of Commerce.
The Canadian Delegation will the led by Paul Martin, Canadian Prime Minister, assisted by Pierre Pettigrew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and by Jim Peterson, minister for International Commerce.
On the agenda of the summit will be the EU-Canadian relations, the preparation of the United Nations summit in September as well as climate change.
