Heads of State and Government from the European Union member states will meet in Brussels on 16 and 17 June 2005, for the European Council under Luxembourg Presidency. The meeting will be chaired by Prime Minister and current President of the European Council, Jean-Claude Juncker.
Further participants from the Luxembourg and the Presidency side, will be the Minister for Foreign Affairs and current President of the Council of the European Union, Jean Asselborn, as well as the Minister delegate for Foreign Affairs and Immigration, Nicolas Schmit.
The traditional exchange of views with the President of the European Parliament will mark the beginning of the European Council, on Thursday 16 June. This encounter will be followed by a tour de table on the ratification process of the Treaty establishing a Constitution for Europe. Over dinner and in the presence of the President of the European Parliament, this topic will be dealt with in more depth.
On Friday 17 June, the work of the European Council will focus on the Financial Perspectives 2007-2013.
